All the townsmen of Genoa will harass Peitro over the money that he owes them until you reach the harbor. The harbormaster tells him that his friend, Camillo, is at the cafe.
In the cafe, Camillo Stefano tells Pietro that The Duchess Franco has agreed to erase their debts in return for some work. They realize that it sounds fishy but are out of options and decide to go.
It turns out that Camillo has a ship and Pietro decides to name it the “Falcon”. Proceed to Lisbon where you will meet Christiana in the top right building.
The Duchess asks them to sail the world and bring any discoveries they find to her and she will reward them. Peitro arouses suspicion and it is met with another task from the Duchess, she wants them to spy on her son Joao and update her on how he is doing. She pays off all of their debts and gives them 5000 gold startup money, as well as a sextant and Telescope which used to belong to her husband, Leon Franco.
There are 2 ways to go about your business, either set sail and start discovering villages and ports, or trade art at Athens and carpet at Istanbul until you have enough gold to purchase Cartography skill so you can start getting paid for your adventuring right off the bat. You can get the skill at either Amsterdam or Palma and sign a contract with either of them. Return to them after every voyage to get paid. After you have done this start sailing around looking for villages and discovering there contents The Nile River is a great place to start. Bring the discoveries to Butler Marco in Lisbon and be rewarded. Use this to purchase a Sloop, LaReal, or Light Galley. Bordeaux usually has used LaReales for sale. Also purchase at least 10 lots of bals while your in Bordeaux.
Sail for Africa and search for villages, entertain the locals until they help you find what secret they are hiding. Once your Fame has reached at least 10,000 stop in a port and go to the cafĂ©.. The bartender will tell tales of a “Gold Medallion” and El Dorado the City of Gold then asks if Pietro would be interested in buying a map for 2000 gold pieces. Purchase the map from the bartender.
The Governor-General of Italy Will request your presence throughout the game, but all he wants from you are discoveries which is going to cost you Fame points and all he gives you is a new title. So it is better to just ignore him.
Now is a good time to explore South America, go all the way down the Amazon River and find all the villages. Once you return to wherever you signed your Cartography contract with they will be able to give you the location of the “Gold Medallion” for the low low price of 20,000 gold. Or you can save the game, get the location, and restart the game to save yourself some money (but that would be cheating).
Make your way to the Medallion and search through every village you come across. Once you find the medallion Camillo asks to see it. They admire the work of art and decide that they are going to find El Dorado. Return to Lisbon to Report your discoveries, and to wherever your Cartography contract is with to receive payment for your maps.
Continue sailing around discovering ports and villages (sail all the way around to china and korea) and through the Philippines.
Head back to Lisbon to turn in your new discoveries, Marco will says that the Duchess is waiting for him. She introduces him to her son Joao and he requests that you find the “Staff of Poseidon” and bring it to Massawa. Joao explains what the Staff is and why he needs it and Pietro accepts. At the dock, Camillo asks how they will find the Staff and Pietro says that something is bound to happen on the way to Arabia.
At any middle eastern port, go to the Cafe, the owner will tell them that there is a Fortune Teller the Mediterranean, either Jaffa or Alexandria that can tell them more about the Staff.
In the Mediterranean, the Fortune Teller will tell them to return to a cafe in the middle east.
In the middle eastern port, the Cafe owner gives them another map which can be given to a Cartographer for the location (if you don’t already recognize the location on the map).
Find the staff and any villages along the way and bring the staff to Joao in Massawa (Red Sea). He will be waiting in the Cafe. Pietro asks Joao to try and find information on El Dorado and he agrees and goes about his business.
Once you reach 40,000 Fame points, Ali Vezas will appear in the dock that your at and tells You that Joao has asked him to find You and tell you that El Dorado may be in the “Golden Country” of Zipangu (Japan). Pietro decides to go there and see.
Upon arrival in Japan you must go to both ports, Nagasaki and Sakai. At the dock in the second port, Ernst Von Bohr appears and tells them that he has not heard of El Dorado either, but that their best bet is in South America around the Equator. Go to Cayenne (Brazil), at the dock, an Elderly man (Raul Franco – Leon’s father) walks in and falls on the floor. He tells them the story of Neo-Atlantis and that he has been prisoner there for 10 to 15 years. Befor being taken prisoner he had discovered the city of El Dorado where he had taken a medallion and given it to some villagers. The same one You have now. Raul promises to draw them a map to El Dorado and they take Raul back to Lisbon to the Franco mansion to finish the game.
